PAS BU PAS PRIS! WINES FOR THOSE WHO DARE TO FINISH A BOTTLE ON THEIR OWN
SIEBERT RANCH VINEYARD
Siebert Ranch is a very atypical terroir for pinot noir. Quite unique indeed because planted on a hillside, limiting the amount of water that the plants and getting and having its roots grow on volcanic rocks. The result is vines with short shoots, that struggle to grow and can ripen only a few clusters full of incredible flavors and depth.
Great wines are made in the vineyard but they special touch to be revealed. Only a delicate approach to winemaking can enhance the unique personality of our vineyards and we believe in that. Native fermentation, extraction control, just the right amount of maturity to handpick perfect grapes and have a wine with a unique expression.
A DIFFERENT VIEW ON PINOT NOIR
It is very rare in the career of a Winemaker to release a new wine. After years dreaming about it, our dream has come to reality. We feel both excited and very anxious to release our first wine. We have known the Sieberts for a long time and we have always liked their vineyard. Finally after a few years we have been able to get fruit from it. The personality of this vineyard is rather unique for California. It is located on a fairly steep slope and very rocky soils. These characteristics make it hard to farm and hard to irrigate. As a result the vines produce extremely low yields (below 2 tons per acre), very small clusters (70 to 80 grams on average), with a lot of tannins and color. This is what we were looking for, fruit with the depth and concentration of the greatest terroirs of Burgundy.
"DFG is the shit, pure and simple"
“Normally I would only drink whole cluster Poulsard, or amphora fermented Grignolino but now I have discovered DFG and I
really couldn’t be any happier! Highly recommended!”
"I like Domaine Faury-Gros more than my two kids, even my dogs like DFG!"
